International Women's Day 2025 at Glasgow Science Centre!

Apologies for the delay; it has been busy times here at Up & About HQ getting ready for the upcoming summer sessions of Heebie Jeebies! BUT we wanted to take a moment today to look back to last month, and the Heebie Jeebies’ outing to the Glasgow Science Centre for International Women’s Day!

On the 8th March 2025, the Heebie Jeebies were invited along to Glasgow Science Centre to help spread some joy and make some new friends! For International Women’s Day many organisations, including Girl Guides Scotland and Scottish Power, were invited to create a one of a kind event in GSC, promoting women in STEM. As a female led company, Up & About were delighted to be invited along to share some music and play.

With Snail, Bee and Worm in tow, the Heebie Jeebies set off! Buidhe, Red and Violet explored every floor, nook and cranny of the Science centre, delighting in what they learned and the people they met and smiles they shared! Some particular highlights included the optical illusions on Floor 1 turning Worm gigantic and Snail’s shell trying to fly with the paper helicopters on Floor 2! Bee loved the plants throughout the centre and kept flying off to get a closer look. We are always losing that Bee! We also had a chance to check out some of the expert stations highlighting women in STEM, which were incredible.

A huge thank you to Eirinn, Oxana, Shakira and honestly everyone else at GSC for making the Heebie Jeebies so welcome on such a special day! You are amazing!
