Hello! Bonjour! Halò!

We are Up & About Theatre, a multidisciplinary children's theatre company based in Scotland. Headed by Lecoq graduate Serena Doran, who is joined by some of the top collaborators in the field to produce imaginative, thought-provoking and heart-warming theatre for young minds! Our first project, Heebie Jeebies, is a multilingual (Gàidhlig, Français, English) work created for under 6s and their carers. The Heebie Jeebies are all around you, but you’ve probably never noticed- until now! Take a journey through the seasons with these tiny creatures and their insect puppet pals and help them save the day, before it’s too late! This visual performance combines multilingual storytelling puppetry and original live music to inspire a deeper connection to nature and to each other, and to raise awareness of environmental issues for young audiences.

Working with handcrafted puppets created by Ella Mackay (Nudge Puppets) and live original music by Ceylan Hay (Bell Lungs), Serena worked with performers Ruth Brandon and Paul Stirrat to devise Heebie Jeebies, with invaluable help from Colleen Cameron as producer.

We were fortunate to receive funding from Creative Scotland, and space and mentoring from Surge to spend two weeks researching and developing Heebie Jeebies before culminating in an outdoor sharing for an invited audience of children and their families to gather thoughts and feedback.

Following this, Heebie Jeebies is ready to take on the world! Watch this space!
